Greenbriar Children’s Center Honors Volunteers of the Year

Greenbriar Children’s Center held its Annual Meeting and Volunteers of the Year Awards Luncheon at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Savannah.

Guests enjoyed a delicious lunch, prepared by the culinary arts classes at Woodville-Tompkins High School, and fellowship as they celebrated the nonprofit organization’s tremendous accomplishments over the past year. Greenbriar presented awards to their volunteers of the year, and the community partner and media partner of the year. Those recognized included:

  • 2016 Media Partner of the Year – Savannah Morning News
  • 2016 Individual Volunteer of the Year – Chequeta Riles (Mother) and Christian Riles Deas (Daughter)
  • 2016 Community Partner of the Year – Coastal Center for Developmental Services/Employability
  • 2016 Servant Leadership Award – Georgia Baptist Children’s Home & Family Services
  • 2016 Corporate Volunteer of the Year – Innomed, Inc.

Also during the meeting, Rev. Ben Martin of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church led the installation of Greenbriar’s new board officers. They are Melissa Emery, President; Juanita Adams, First VP; Dr. Clementine Washington, 2nd VP; Linsey MacDougal, Secretary; and Dr. Alfred Young, Treasurer.

“We’re thrilled to honor the people who give selflessly to keep Greenbriar front and center in the community. Our volunteers and board members are essential to helping us carry out our mission so we can care for the children in this community who most need it,” Greenbriar Executive Director Gena Taylor said. “Thank you to our award winners, our board, all of our volunteers and supporters, and to the community for giving us 69 wonderful years and, hopefully, many more.”
