Shelter Services
Greenbriar offers a shelter for abused, abandoned, neglected or runaway and homeless youth. Our shelter, one of only two in the entire Coastal Empire, is open 365 days a year. Greenbriar offers an inclusive environment for all youth and prohibits harassment based on race, sexual orientation, gender, gender identify (or expression), religion, and national origin. Runaway Homeless Youth Program– (Family & Youth Services Bureau – Basic Center Program)
Program Description: To provide homeless youth with the emergency services and referrals they need with the goal of reuniting them with their families, whenever possible.
Population Served: Youth 11 up to 18 years of age
Number of Days Services Provided: Twenty-one consecutive days
Services Provided:
- Food, clothing, medical care, and other services that youth need (offered either directly or by referral)
- Individual, group, and family counseling
- Recreation programs
- Education and employment assistance
- Outreach
- Aftercare services
- Transportation
- Life Skills

Setting: Community-Based Group Home
Room Board & Watchful Oversight Program – (Department of Family and Children Services or Department of Juvenile Justice)
Program Description: To provide supervised emergency services year round for youth who are in DFCS or DJJ custody.
Population Served: Youth ages 12-17
Services Provided:
- Individualized Service Plan that includes safety, quality of care, permanency support, and timelines
- Food, clothing, medical care, and other services that youth need (offered either directly or by referral)
- Individual, group, and family counseling
- Recreation programs
- Education and employment assistance
- Transportation
- Life Skills
- Aftercare services through Greenbriar’s Family Preservation Program
