Required Minimum Distributions (RMD’s)

Many individuals in their retirement years will find that they are required to take minimum distribution amounts (RMD’s) each year based on the value of their portfolio as of the previous year end. Sometimes, individuals may be receiving sufficient income from other sources and do not have a need to take their IRA distribution. In addition, income received from an IRA RMD is fully taxable.
If you find that you do not have a need for the full amount of your IRA RMD distribution this year, you may request that your financial advisor send the portion that you do not need directly to Greenbriar.

The benefits are threefold:
1) You can reduce the amount of taxable income you need to report on your tax return;
2) Greenbriar is able to receive the benefit of these additional dollars;
3) You are able to satisfy the RMD requirement for the year.

If you would like to make a donation from your IRA directly to Greenbriar, please contact Cherie Trice, Director of Development, at ctrice@greenbriarchildrenscenter.org.
